Coach Cheryl Brost
Soccer has always been a passion for coach Cheryl. Born and raised in Eugene, Oregon, she started coaching keiki soccer when she was in high school and went on to play collegiate soccer. Once her son, Alex, was of age to play, she began coaching him in soccer, and the same for her daughter, Malia. Additionally, she held the position of head girl’s soccer coach for two years at her alma mater.
Cheryl is also a ten-time qualifier and eight-time CrossFit Games athlete with Games experience across three divisions: the individual competition and the Masters Women 40-44 and 45-49 Divisions. After starting CrossFit in 2009, the former All-American soccer player took 13th in her first Games appearance in 2010. She went on to qualify for the Games as an individual for the next two years, taking her best finish of seventh in 2011.
Cheryl has qualified for the Games as a master every year since 2013. She finished the 2016 and 2017 season with a career-best finish of first place in the 45-49 Division, she also won the Open and the Masters Qualifier that year (crossfit.com).
Cheryl lives on the Big Island with her husband, Troy and apart from coaching and CrossFit, she also has a background in real estate.
Cheryl’s favorite food is Mexican, but she has an equal love for Japanese and Italian cuisine. He favorite soccer team is Manchester city.
